TheHemphillswere a family gospel music group active in mostly the American South from 1968 to 1990. The group resurfaced in 1998 as a husband-and-wife duo.
JoelHemphillhas written more than 350 songs including “Consider the Lilies,” “He’sstillworking on me,” “Master of the Wind” and a host of other well known gospel music favorites. TheHemphillshave recorded some 27 albums and had numerous No. 1 and Top 10 songs.
JoelHemphillwas born in Fresno, CA in 1939. When he wasstillyoung his parents moved their family to West Monroe, Louisiana, where his father pastored a church.
JoelHemphillwas born in Fresno, California, the son of Beatrice BrownHemphilland Rev. W.T.Hemphill. WhenJoelwas five years old, the family moved to West Monroe where his dad founded the Jesus Only Apostolic Church.
